Since launching our tees back in May of 2016, we've had great feedback on all our designs. The latest feedback came from a local Toronto owned shop BRIKA. I should probably say 'shops' because they own 5 brick and mortar shops around Toronto. They sell amazing products all curated from highly talented artisans around the world. As fate would have it I received a contact number from a local friend who put me in touch with the owner. They liked what they saw, placed a purchase order, and off I went racing around to complete 306 shirts all printed, tagged and packaged in 5 days! With my upcoming appearance at the One of a Kind Show here in Toronto this was not an easy task to manage. So I thought I'd share with you all the process of completing these tee in record time!
Here are the 3 designs that were chosen for the placement in 5 BRIKA stores across Toronto.
Change is Knocking
“Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
- Lao Tzu
Keep it Simple
“Everything must be made as simple as possible. But not simpler.”
- Albert Einstein
Enjoy the Journey
“It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.”
- Ernest Hemingway
Once the 3 designs were selected I quickly went to work ordering the shirts and started creating the packaging that was to support the tees. I really wanted to do something special for BRIKA as I knew they would be displayed in multiple stores across Toronto. I wanted something that was bold, yet minimal. They had to stand out and since the time of year was gifting season they had to be packaged in a way that could easily be wrapped and given to someone. I ultimately ended up using a 3"x3"x6" box with a custom printed sleeve to fit over it. Below you can see the work that went into all this packaging.
There you have it. 306 shirts all packaged up and ready to go.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Working on your own is hard work. In fact, I've never worked so hard in my entire life doing what I do. I've worked in the advertising world for over 13 years and thought I worked hard days, however it wasn't till owning my own business and running it myself did I truly know what hard work really was. Projects like this BRIKA job can seem impossible and even daunting to complete, especially in 5 days. However when it's your own blood and sweat poring into it, you totally just loose track of time and immures yourself in it. It becomes part of you and you take every effort to give it your all.
