Two weeks of packaging - How I did it
Written by Ryan McArthur - March 13 2015
Recently I've been working on an order for a Swiss company that included 1600 prints all packaged individually in there own StayFlat mailer with a barcode and product label place on the outside. This was by far the largest order I've filled! It literally took the better part of 2 weeks to organize the supplies, get the orders printed and everything wrapped up for shipping. The funny thing is, as time consuming and back breaking as this all was I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I loved orchestrating all the little details and especially loved coming up with the fancy labels that were placed on the outside of the packages. I've asked the amazing company that I partnered with to take some pictures of the in-store displays once they are all set up. I can't wait to see how it looks:) Below I've got some shots of the whole process. Take a look and tell me what you think!
Here's the finished product. Oh by the way, all those labels were cut by hand. Yep, the old knife and ruler;)
Supply run! 2 trips and 6 hrs later they were in my basement.
Hot off the press. Prints are stacked and ready to be packaged.
Labels and barcodes are printed and cut, ready to be placed on those big delicious 21"x17" white envelopes. These are a bit different than my previously design labels which you can see here.
One by one they go on. I believe I started to loose my fingerprints after handling sticky paper for so long.
At this point I could barley walk through my office. Here's what it used to look like
In the boxes they go. 100 per box, 16 boxes total.
At this point I've packaged all the prints and have now started to add the protective foam corners. Wanted to make sure they made a safe trip.
I had box vision at this point;)
There they are 16 boxes weighing approximitaly 80 lbs each. That's 1280 lbs! When they were taken away on the truck I was so paranoid the whole weekend wondering if they would get lost or damaged, however 4 days later they made it there safe and sound:) Phew.
Here is the final product in-store! They did an outstanding job finding great frames to match. Love the different choices of colours:) Slim frames always look great to me. If you are looking for framing tips check out one of my early posts here.
